The recent visit of IMO Secretary-General, Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, to Hong Kong was a significant event for the maritime community in the region. Invited by the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA) for the Asian Shipowners’ Association (ASA) AGM, Mr. Dominguez’s visit was marked by a series of important meetings and events.

During his visit, Mr. Dominguez was warmly welcomed by the Hong Kong Chief Executive, Mr. John Lee, and other leaders of the international maritime community. The Consul General of Panama in Hong Kong, Mr. Jaime Campuzano, and the Senior Technical Officer of the SEGUMAR office in Hong Kong, Mr. Rolando Hernandez, also extended their greetings to Mr. Dominguez, highlighting the significance of his visit.

One of the focal points of Mr. Dominguez’s visit was to engage in discussions with the HKSOA membership on various regulatory issues that are of concern to the Hong Kong shipping community. These discussions provided an invaluable opportunity for stakeholders to exchange views and insights on key regulatory matters impacting the maritime industry in the region.

In addition to the meetings with the HKSOA, Mr. Dominguez also attended a dinner reception organized by the Consulate General of Panama in Hong Kong. This event provided a platform for Mr. Dominguez to interact with maritime companies that utilize the Consulate Merchant Marine services. Such interactions are crucial for fostering collaboration and strengthening ties within the maritime community.
